Education
Public Schools Built Us. Now We Rebuild Them.
Rebuilding Public Education. Restoring Opportunity. Reducing the Burden on Families.
Education is deeply personal to me.
Like many families across Owerri Federal Constituency, I understand what public education once represented, opportunity, dignity, structure, and hope.
Public schools built generations of Nigerians by giving ordinary families access to quality education regardless of background.
But today, too many of our public schools no longer reflect that promise.
Across communities in Owerri Federal Constituency, I have seen schools with deteriorating buildings, unsafe classrooms, broken infrastructure, poor sanitation, and learning environments that do not match the potential of our children.
This decline has forced countless parents into expensive private schools, not because they are wealthy, but because they feel they have no better choice.
That must change.
Why This Matters
When public schools fail, families suffer.
Parents carry heavier financial burdens.
Children lose access to equal opportunity.
Communities weaken.
The future becomes less certain.
But when public schools work:
Families breathe.
Children thrive.
Teachers perform better.
Communities grow stronger.
Rebuilding public education is not just about schools.
It is about restoring one of the most powerful foundations of social and economic progress.
The Problem
Many public schools across our constituency face:
- Dilapidated classroom blocks
- Broken roofs, doors, and windows
- Vandalized laboratories
- Lack of functional libraries
- Poor sanitation and water systems
- Weak security and infrastructure protection
- Limited teacher support systems
In many cases, neglect has replaced dignity.
This is unacceptable.
My Vision
My vision is clear:
Every child in Owerri Federal Constituency deserves access to safe, functional, dignified, and competitive public education.
Public schools must once again become places where families feel confidence, not compromise.
1. Full Reconstruction to Modern Standards
We must move beyond cosmetic repairs.
My plan supports the structured reconstruction of public schools into modern institutions with:
- Conducive classrooms
- Functional science laboratories
- Libraries and learning resources
- Clean water and sanitation
- Safe recreational spaces
- Walkways and drainage systems
- Teachers’ quarters where appropriate
Under this plan, two public schools will be fully reconstructed each year. Over a four-year period, we will completely rebuild eight public schools across Owerri Federal Constituency into model standards of learning, places where students can grow, teachers can thrive, and communities can once again take pride in public education.
2. School Protection & Anti-Vandalism Systems
Rebuilding schools without protecting them invites repeated failure.
I will advocate for stronger protection of school infrastructure through:
- Community-school protection partnerships
- Security collaboration
- School Infrastructure Protection Committees
- Policies that treat schools as critical public assets
A rebuilt school must not become vulnerable to the same cycle of vandalism, neglect, and decay that weakened it in the first place.
Protecting our schools means protecting public investment, preserving learning environments, and ensuring that future generations continue to benefit from the resources we build today.
When communities, institutions, and government work together to safeguard educational infrastructure, schools become more than buildings, they become protected centers of opportunity, discipline, and long-term development.
3. Teacher Support & Dignity
Education cannot rise above the quality and stability of its teachers.
I support stronger advocacy for:
Improved teacher welfare
Better teaching environments
Teacher accommodation support where necessary
Stronger supervision and accountability
4. Federal Education Advocacy & Oversight
As your representative, I will actively pursue:
- Federal education intervention projects
- Education infrastructure support
- Oversight of relevant agencies
- Strategic partnerships that benefit schools in our constituency
Reducing the Burden on Families
One of the greatest hidden costs families face today is educational survival.
When public schools become reliable again:
- Parents face less financial pressure
- Children gain broader access
- Families regain stability
- Opportunity becomes more equal
Fixing public schools is one of the most practical ways to support ordinary families.
Expected Impact
Through focused education reform, we can help create:
- Better learning environments
- More confident students
- Reduced pressure on parents
- Stronger communities
- Improved social mobility
- A more competitive future for our children
